dCS Bartok

Posted by Tom Hebdige on

Founded in Cambridge in 1987 by Oxford University graduate Mike Story, dCS started out offering consultancy services to the aviation and aerospace sector.

Their original work in radar and signal conversion  ( for the Ministry of Defence ) branched out and developed into creating pioneering systems for professional studios and music lovers globally. They have been shaping the future of digital audio for over 30 years, developing unique products and technologies that have revolutionised music recording and playback.

The Bartók APEX retains the original’s powerful, dynamic and detailed soundscape and adds elements of resolution and refinement previously only achievable with the Rossini or Vivaldi APEX.

APEX is a new, enhanced version of the dCS Ring DAC: the Digital to Analogue conversion system found inside all dCS DACs. First developed for professional audio products, this unique system has been subject to continuous development over the past three decades, and remains renowned for its technical and sonic performance.
