Album of the month - October - JJ Cale Naturally

Posted by Jon Harker on

Released this month in 1971, the first outing from the legendarily elusive Oklahoma songwriter contains the original of "After Midnight" ( later to be made famous by his good friend Eric Clapton)

Cale's guitar style has influenced many more well known players  - Mark Knopfler to name one.

Whilst avoiding the limelight of the 1970's, his first 7 albums are beautifully crafted pieces. The mixture of styles is often referred to as the  "Tulsa sound " - a subtle blend of country, blues and jazz with a hint of Cajun roots.
