Album of the month - In the Court of the Crimson King - Oct 10th 1969

Widely considered the first prog rock album, King Crimson's self produced debut was released in autumn 1969 several years before the genre became mainstream, giving it plenty of time to seep into the musical subconcious.

Combining Psychedelia with elements of Jazz and Classical with superb musicianship this set the prog blueprint and guaranteed the album a degree of longevity.

Only 5 tracks and all are equally surreal and have earned their place in music history, and inspiring several fine cover versions along the way - Kirsty Hawkshaws's version of " I talk to the wind" is something of a early 90's underground dance classic.

And remember, it is Tony Blairs favourite album.....of course it is
