Album of the month Bob Marley - Exodus - June 3rd 1977

Posted by Jon Harker on

Arguably the album that made Bob Marley a truly global name, Exodus is filled with evergreen reggae gems.

Recorded in London after an attempt on Bob's life at home in Kingston, this politically motivated instability in his home country led to the universal anthem that is "One Love".

Pretty much every track on here is considered a classic in the reggae world, purists will lean towards "the Heathen" whereas "Turn you Lights down low" and "Waiting in Vain " lend a more bluesy feel.

The title track itself starts with the ultimate reggae guitar lick, and then virtually explodes into a driving roots bassline and Rastafari narrative, driven by Bob's self-proclaimed mission to spread both worldwide.

"My feeling about this music is that it will get bigger and bigger and find its right people, as it gets bigger " Bob Marley 1977.

Enjoy,

Barney
