Koetsu was founded by Yoshiaki Sugano who was a boxer, artist, sword maker, automotive executive and lover of western classical music. His love of music took him on a journey designing and building some of the most beautiful and best sounding phono cartridges in the world.
Yoshiaki Sugano passed away in 2002 aged 95 but the legacy of Koetsu lives on with his son Fumihiko who having been an apprentice under his father is now a master cartridge maker in his own right. All Koetsu cartridges are still hand made in Japan using the finest materials to produce cartridges that not only sound fantastic, but are a work of art.
