Alpha X Ground Cable Base & Tail
ArNi® Wire Technology
ArNi® is a proprietary wire developed by Shunyata Research to represent the highest quality available for audio applications. It starts with the purest copper—either OFE C10100 or Ohno (single crystal)—and is formed into virtual hollow tubes to eliminate skin effects and eddy current distortions. The wire also undergoes Shunyata's exclusive KPIP™ (Kinetic Phase Inversion Process) treatment to further enhance performance.
VTX-Ag Conductors
Shunyata’s VTX-Ag conductors are the result of 25 years of development grounded in credible science and verifiable measurement. These conductors feature an outer tube geometry made of the purest copper to preserve tonal integrity and instrument timbre. Surrounding an inner core of the purest silver, the VTX-Ag design significantly enhances macro-dynamics and delivers impressive three-dimensional weight and timing, especially in the lower frequencies.
STIS™ v3 Interchangeable Terminals
STIS™ v3 is Shunyata Research’s most advanced interchangeable terminal system, combining performance and convenience. The banana and spade terminals are crafted from solid tellurian copper for maximum conductivity and plated with pure gold to ensure long-term durability and signal integrity. STIS™ v3 delivers the performance of fixed connectors while offering unmatched flexibility—allowing users to change connectors easily based on their system’s requirements.
OFE Alloy 101 Copper
Shunyata Research exclusively uses OFE Alloy 101 (C10100) copper, the highest purity copper available, with a minimum purity of 99.99% and a conductivity rating of 101% IACS. OFE stands for Oxygen-Free Electrolytic and is a superior standard to OFHC (Oxygen-Free High Conductivity). C10100 is the only copper grade that comes with a written certification of purity.

Fluorocarbon Dielectrics
Typically reserved for aerospace and satellite applications, fluorocarbon dielectrics are now employed in Shunyata’s highest-end audiophile cables. These materials exhibit low dielectric absorption, high dielectric strength, and excellent thermal resistance. When used in audio and power cables, fluorocarbon dielectrics minimize dynamic compression and enhance low-level resolution and clarity.

Sonic Welding Technology
Traditional methods like crimping, soldering, or using screws can degrade over time. Shunyata Research employs sonic welding—using high-energy sound waves to fuse metals at the molecular level—and cold welding, which uses high-pressure bonding. These advanced techniques ensure that electrical connections remain stable and perform reliably over the long term.
KPIP™ Processing
Shunyata’s proprietary Kinetic Phase Inversion Process (KPIP™) involves four continuous days of processing that dramatically shortens burn-in time and significantly enhances sonic performance. The result is a relaxed, natural, and lifelike listening experience.
