The SME Model 15 is a new minimalist masterpiece turntable which replaces the critically acclaimed and highly popular SME Model 10 and includes design features inspired by the more expensive SME Model 20/3 and SME Model 30/2 turntables.

Suspended on thirty purpose moulded 'O' rings, the SME model 15 sub-chassis and platter weighs more than 11Kg making it a high density construction on which freedom from colouration depends.
The suspension is adjustable through trimming screws in each column and when used with a gauge, it can give recommended settings or varied to suit individual requirements.
The central fluid damper disciplines the suspension while manipulating the sub-chassis motion to provide a resistive ground for acoustic signals, eliminating overshooting and giving almost zero 'Q' recovery.
Machined from aluminium alloy, the platter weighs over 4.6kg and is extensionally damped. The diamond-turned upper surface features a fine scroll and the finishing method disrupts a myriad of tiny fibres which interact with the underside of the record.
A significant clamp operating on the reflex principle increases platter contact to the largest possible and a considerable record warp is applied. The central spindle is 19mm and constructed from high chrome steel, ground super finished and supported in a sealed housing with separately fitted sintered bronze bearings that are needed to support the platter.
The Model 15 motor is built to the higest standards of silent running in a turntable. Driven by a 3-phase, brushless outrunner inductance motor with 8-pole Neodymium magnets and 3 integrated Hall position sensors, the electronic motor controller uses a high performance microporocessor that is optimised for motor control.
Closed loop speed control is implemented using a proportional plus algorithm while fine pitch speed adjustment allows you to tweak the selected speed at increments/decrements of +/- 0.01%. The speed ranges can be chosen from between 33.3, 45 & 78 RPM.
A soft dust cover is provided to accomodate the turntable and arm, when not in use. Mains voltages available are 90-110V, 105-125V and 220-240V 50/60Hz. Standard arm mountings suit all SME 9" and 10" arms.
Set in the heart of the Sussex countryside at the foot of the south downs SME the home of arguably the finest precision gramophone pick-up arms and turntables in the world. To own an SME product is to possess a jewel of near perfection in both performance and construction...
To maintain the very high standards of quality all manufacture and processing is carried out 'in house'. Facilities commence with design and toolmaking through all aspects of manufacturing including CNC machining, pressure die-casting, injection moulding, metal finishing, electro-plating, anodising and many other processes.
