Music & Conversation with Hugh Padgham (multi-platinum producer of The Police, Genesis, David Bowie, Sting, XTC, Phil Collins, Paul McCartney & many more) and Darrel Sheinman (founder of Gearbox Records).

Expect Hugh to play tracks from his best-selling recordings & reveal some of the secrets of his ground breaking production techniques. Hugh has been responsible for records selling over 250 million copies and won 4 Grammy Awards; Producer of the Year & Album of the Year for 1985, Record of the Year for 1990, and Engineer of the Year for 1993.

Hugh “The thing with a rock record is that the rhythm section, the drums and bass, is really the spine of the record. If your rhythm section doesn’t sound any good, then the band won’t sound any good.”

Expect Darrel to play selections from his super rare collection of First Pressing original Blue Note. Darrel will also reveal some of the secrets of running an audiophile record label in the modern era - hear for yourself how mastering and cutting their own vinyl ensures their records sound so extraordinarily good.

Following their conversation and audio playback session, there will be the opportunity for a Q&A.

Gearbox Records:
Gearbox Records are attracting much attention at the moment. Their philosophy of keeping everything in-house to ensure quality control at every step harks back to the golden era of record labels. But of course this would mean nothing without great music. And they have this in abundance - as their MOBO award winning artists Binker & Moses can testify.
