Please call us for the latest price. The Magico Q5 is five-driver, four-way design that employs Magico’s NanoTec drivers: two 9″ woofers, one 9″ mid-bass driver, and a 6″ midrange driver. The tweeter is a new, custom Scan-Speak model that has a beryllium dome, and while Scan-Speak was involved in the design, the guts of the tweeter are mostly Magico’s own. The Q5′s frequency response is from 34Hz to 50kHz, its impedance as 4 ohms, and the sensitivity as 88dB (1W/1m).

1 x 1” MBe-1 Tweeter

1 x 6” Nano-Tec Midrange

1 x 9” Nano-Tec Midbass

2 x 9” Nano-Tec Bass

Sensitivity: 88dB

Impedance: 4 Ohms

Frequency Response: 26 Hz – 50 KHz

Recommended Power: 50 – 500 Watts

Dimensions: 47” H x 21” D x 11.75” W per crate

Weight: 387 lbs.

The Q5 is made entirely from aluminum and other metals. Inside is a complex metal structure, replete with plenty of bracing, and the entire outside is covered with a 1/4″ anodized-aluminum “skin” that company president and chief designer, Alon Wolf, says can be finished in almost any color.

For years, the design team at Magico have wanted to build all Magico speaker enclosures entirely of aluminum (as they did with their ultra-expensive M6 and state-of-the-art Ultimate) because of its ideal blend of stiffness and mass (only prohibitively expensive titanium outperforms aluminum in these regards); the problem was costs–both for Magico and for the end-user. Recently, however, Magico acquired its own machine shop with 6 CNC milling machines. Building in house–rather than farming enclosure construction out to companies in Denmark or the U.S.–not only gave Magico heretofore unparalleled control of the entire speaker-building process, it also lowered construction costs substantially, since it is much cheaper to use your own CNC machines than to rent time on someone else’s by the hour.

Magico

Magico loudspeakers are our latest love affair; sound to die for and room friendly. HiFi+ Review ... It has all the Magico traits (exceptional mid-range clarity, wide bandwidth, powerful solidity of a broad-as-the-room image and that snap-focus in on the music), but it also has some of the characteristics of those speakers we were weaned on.
